BUG OFF! merchandise line thoughts / 5/24/2024

whenever i get out of the shower, i think most people are the same when they dont expect anything to happen aside from getting dried off. and then i looked online, and i got hit in the face with a merchandise line dedicated to bug types..

and if that doesnt seem that surprising, you know what else they announced????

while not apart of the bugline, i still think its notable to mention. the surprise of them releasing a giant larvesta is just so.. shocking? maybe i just feel old, but it felt like bug type pokemon never got that much attention until now. (said larvesta plush is 300+ bucks or more in usd, which is expected.. i guess il save up?)

outside of larvesta, volcanrona does get more love in BUG OFF! alongside some other mons, they seem to be included in this lineup of little plush. its nice to see golisopod get a smaller plush, since the other bigger one is.. well, limited and /not/ cheap for a plush. hell, even vivillion is here!!!

i will note that theyll probably be a bit cheaper looking, especially snom (which i dont think looks so good, but i guess its the angle?) but il get into it at the end.

considering how this volcanrona wind chime (or something else that im not sure of) is made out of glass, im guessing it wont be so cheap. its still beautiful, though!

volcanrona is included alongside others with some smaller figures guessing from the pokeball cage, im guessing itd be a gachapon! i did have gachapon beetles included in something similar to that. its a fun gimmick, i think.

the last volcanrona is included alongside charms. im.. not sure how to describe these outside of "charms", but theyre cute! im more giddy about dottler being in the line-up, since the blipbug line haaardly gets anything for such good designs.

i think the biggest scare of the entire line is another buzzwole plush. compared to the rest, i think buzzwole has had basically three official plushies.. the other being limited alongside the other ultra beast plush sold, while the other was a kuttari cutie. its impressive how much love this guy gets, at least in my eyes! maybe its the tits?

a major want already is the heracross backpack (which i thought was a pouch, but its translated to as a backpack with what i used). i think i already mightve stated heracross is one of my favorites, and this captures the cuteness! albeit on the fatter end, but you need a backpack to be big enough to hold things anyway.

im sure venipede has gotten some love, but its nice to see wimpod get some attention as well! (theyre apparently pullback figures, which would be fun to toy with for a small bit)

whirlipede is actually my favorite in the venipede line, so its a unique touch to make the design as to emit and cut tape... its very clever, i wont lie!

one of the last items is also an absolute want, unless the charms /arent/ included... but it being a spider-themed accessory stand is just too adorable not to want. im such a sucker for spiders, and its always nice to see tarountula- who i fear will have the same fate as blipbug, hardly any merchandise..

i feel i could go on forever, but itd really feel like padding. even if i dont get everything in this line (which i probably wont, just a few things i really like) its very cute, and fitting for the summer!

my only criticisms is with my worry about quality. some pokemon plush have printed on fabrics and whatnot, and although thats not a /bad/ thing, i dont think it looks so well on certain stuff. im saying this because im sure some amount of plush in this line will have printed on fabric, but i doubt these items were meant to be luxury with fully sewn in details.. i really shouldnt expect much.

maybe someday i can get the big larvesta? i actually doubt it, i think id like a giant tarountula, really.
