july collection updates / 8/3/2025
and so... the big month is here..
i do think this is gonna be pretty big (aka a lot of stuff), mostly because... well, i dont know how to put this... i really like wasting money if you put it that way!
the first one is actually a fluffy puffy figure- or at least the madoka line, such as this one being bebe! i always thought these were pretty adorable in one way or another, but never bothered to get them until i got a visa giftcard.
about visa giftcards, dont get them. unless you like, want something from amazon, but thats literally it, theyre worthless practically everywhere else... and, well, with what happened with itchio, i dont trust any sort of payment processor by now.
anyway, about the figure, i think its good! im honestly not a fan of flocked figures but this one didnt feel too badly flocked and all. it was also surprisingly bigger than i thought... like if i had to compare, sort of the same size of a normal nendoroid.
shockingly, i bought a book! kinda. i actually cant read it since its fully in japanese, but ive always liked pokecology the moment it came out, so its nice to have.
the art itself is incredible, i really dont have any cons. i admittingly bought it just for the art, and alongside cool information, i think basically every pokemon is featured in pokecology.
im not sure if theres a hardcover version, but i really found out how i dont like paperbacks so much, since the cover kept coming off... i feel like a wuss though for that being my opinion, its otherwise great.
onto a lot that basically costed 300 bucks total, just a bunch of stuff ive been meaning to buy. i didnt take separate pictures of everything, but heres a picture of the smaller things ive got.
outside of a certain plush ive been wanting to get, the standees were just. the Most expensive ive felt. i mean, other stuff was about 20+ bucks- which is fine, but why were the little itty bitty standees 20+ bucks as well?? it feels like a ridiculous price, but they were the only things i found at the time of someone selling them. dont even get me started on the kanagi lzumi standee, which are pretty smaller...
she was about like, 111 bucks. im not joking. one of the other expensive things ive got but i feel that price is just undeserved. shes literally the only one i found in stock too, and i really wanted her dammit!! and its crazy because from the same set, ive literally found someone selling the tsunuro standee for 11 bucks or so. i felt like i was going crazy.
the other standee of nemu and toukas holiday duo thing was about 34 dollars, which. well, i mean its big. i could go on forever on how i think pointlessly expensive some standees sell for...
the standees themselves are honestly cute, all of them are! im just glad to have them. not so glad about the price, but yknow.
some rubber charms are THANKFULLY cheap, especially madoka ones, and i bought these three in a lot. worth it since i need more oktavia stuff, although i dont mind more sayaka here and there.
theres also the mini witches figures, and i did unfortunately forgot the set name, but i need more gertrud... i do think the figure itself is honestly well made for a miniature version, i just hope thered at least be an actual gertrud figure at some point that isnt tiny or something.
sadly, i think the figure got a bit bent, unless thats how shes supposed to look- but she does look off and it makes me pretty sad. i also dont know why they come with like... that purple stand, when it doesnt even connect to it??
im still hoping to get the pyotr from this set, theyre somewhat elusive in my memory.
of course, the alolan pokefit plushies finally released!!! and guess who bought a bunch? i did, because i have NO shame.
i think these pokefit plushies are honestly neat, but theyre about the same if you arent expecting much. just little versions of every pokemon. im just glad theres another blacephalon plush thats actually easy to obtain- or, well, any ultra beast. or any other alolan pokemon...
to complain about prices AGAIN is that the lurantis was sold for 50 dollars. somehow, the ribombee was much less (but i guess thats already because theres an expensive ribombee plush out there, and lurantis had none until now) but everything else was like… dunno, 20 or so dollars. kind of insane to think about.
oh, and more situational gacha pouches! i dont know entirely why i bought them, i just thought they were adorable. i probably wont use them as much... at this point, im just collecting them because theyre adorable. il try and use them, unless i buy another.. and another... and another...
okay, outside of the lot itself, some cookie run charms from the eternal sugar update!
i honestly enjoyed it, although it felt a bit too short for me, so i uh... yknow, fell for the pop up stands. ive actually saved up until they came, so im just glad i got hollyberry cookie and all.
anyway, for some REAL shit!!!!!!!!!! like fanmerch okay. let me have this.
for the full set of karmen pins ive bought (which are acrylic), they came with some pretty cool stickers! not of every character of course, but im surprised it wasnt ormen with this pack, whos. unfortunately more memorable than nomen? im not saying its bad that nomens a sticker, but still surprising.
my honest review though is that i think theyre very well made! i mean, i think thats obvious, but the art itself is just okay. i think hukmen looks more flat compared to the others, but what else can you even do with his staff???
i actually think kimen has the best art out of all the four, but it feels really mean to talk about the art itself. i still think its cute though okay!!! GO BUY FROM THIS ARTIST!!!!!!! NOW! NOWWWWWW
one of the other items is a very fun gimmick! its one of those egg opening charms, but with the world egg and princess. its honestly very clever and fitting to the lore, princess and the egg are very cute... i dont. really have anything to say except its good.
oh! the chain is blue, and i think thats cute and cool!!! and the packaging is also adorable, although i dont think the box itself was in the best quality. but it was a box WITHIN a box, so i think its fine. and like the filthy shipper i am, i put her and kimen together.
now, onto the big surprise...
this is actually a manjuu plush- from my memory, a sort of circular squishy thing with a character onto it. i think the patapon one this artist made is actually super unique though, since it actually has arms and legs and a cute little cap!!
i do think the legs, arms and cap are a little too floppy though, like theres little to no stuffing in there. i think its fine since its mostly a manjuu plush and not like, an actual plush, and it doesnt really distract from much.
the packaging of the plush itself is also really cool to me, i adore unique packaging even if im gonna throw it away at some point. just makes it all the more sweeter!! it also came with a sticker, which is neat.
now onto the actual last item from this persons shop...
acrylic bracelets!! im kinda surprised its a thing but you can probably do a lot with acrylic.
anyway, these were delayed due to the seller not finding the original sample (ormen with a dark purple bg) not too good and blended in. i do have to agree in some aspect, because while the purple is a cool choice...
unless you SPECIFICALLY put it up to a light, its still gonna seem really dark and blend in. i do feel bad because i cant imagine making a product only for the samples to come out as just kinda blended in with the colors, so the seller made it a clear version instead- which is what is for stock.
i actually got two (the original and renewed) because i preordered this item months ago, and they threw in the ormen as a bonus! i dont know if thats happening anymore and it just comes with the clear ormen, but thats my experience. (the seller was also really kind about this)
for the items themselves, i think theyre great! unfortunately a bit clunky though, and in my case i cant really use them as bracelets. my wrists are too fat. i was actually buying them incase i finally got an ita bag or use as some sort of keychain, and thats fine with me. these are moreso personal cons of mine. no, im not gonna lose weight because of this.
the only way i could really wear them is just attach the arms together, and thats about it. still funny to think about two ormens on my arm... how scary!
i will say the idea of the arms being basically the chain almost is really neat! i think its what makes it kind of clunky to wear, but like, i think it just depends. its still a really nice piece of merchandise to have.
the second to last item was also like. 100+ bucks but i reallyyyy wanted her!! the charlotte muffler... scarf plush? thing. i keep forgetting names, but i found it on surugaya and i instantly wanted her, even if she was expensive.
i think its also a nice idea for a product, although gets oversold a lot (as in that case), but shes rare so whatever. the scarf hand parts though are really, really soft, and im surprised charlotte herself is kinda not. it feels like theres not a lot of soft charlotte plushies that i have that are official?
the actual LAST items i werent gonna include until next month, but i checked the date and i actually just got them in the last few days. so whatever, im including them.
its a lot different from other stuff i get though! i really wanna get more of kemono friends (the designs and all are adorable), and the bandai bug figures are just personally great in my opinion. if youre wondering where i got this stuff, it was actually from a store called bookoff that began opening places around where i live. it sells figures and books, thats all i can say.
said bandai bugs took forever to make though, and i think bandai gachapon stuff just... upped their prices, just to get one bandai fig it had costed 12 dollars(?), which you could get 1 figure with only 4 coins. yes, the beetle was the same amount. its kind of insane. i dont know why they would outside of either greed or the pointless tariffs.
im happy with the figures i got though! for the kemono friends stuff its just a button and an acrylic phone holder, which im actually using. poor kaban probably cant handle my fat phone for long though. i found them in a SUPER big section of just random assorted goods, and like... im too lazy to get a pic, but its just so much stuff, and i really wanted to find something madoka related, but i couldnt. still happy with what i got though!
also, i finally got a shiny celebi plush! she was... well, 35 dollars... i couldve gotten her for cheaper online but my parents got it for me anyway. im glad shes here though, as chunky as she is!
