dont support blushcrunch/dandys world (or why i no longer support them) for they are ignoring and silencing victims / 7/13/2026

this is a bit different from any of my other blogs, mostly because its actually me discussing some important stuff, but i feel it was needed considering i had directly bought blushcrunches dandys world products before.

this was, of course, when people had believed and were told by qwel (creator of dandys world) that she was manipulated by rox, who was called out for being a child groomer within the databrawl community. which is actually true, i feel the need to clarify. important reminder that this isnt a full summary of events, and if you want to know more, i recommend looking further yourself than what i have done.

this relates back to qwel, because for a few years, she had went with the narrative that rox was manipulating her and withholding files from flavor frenzy that prevented her to continue working on it. and im going to be honest with you, i trusted qwel myself because i didnt want her to be a bad person like rox. mostly because qwel was a queer woman, and im queer myself, and i wanted to trust a developer and creator who was queer that i think a lot of people were willing to believe it. not like there was much actual evidence against how she mightve been manipulated in the beginning, but still.

it was revealed that qwel had lied about a lot of stuff. mostly about how rox was actually willing to give the files back to qwel, alongside her actually defending and helping rox when he was exposed for being a child groomer. while its possible she was also groomed by rox to defend him, it ends up not being justifiable when she has lied about knowing the full extent of his actions and lying to other victims OF rox of keeping him in dandys world development team.

a big chunk of details about this situation are in a thread by blushcrunches ex team manager, joji, and if you have time, i really recommend looking through it. as it said in the thread, you can come to your own opinions.

the most horrible part is that qwel was exposed for keeping rox regardless of being a groomer, from the child groomers own images of qwel supporting and trying to boost his mood WHEN he was called out for being a child groomer. i mean, maybe thats just my take, and if i end up misreading this, i will edit it, but its just terrible.

i said it before, but i put my trust in qwel, even though i never knew her personally, but i think i was an idiot not to really question anything. qwel herself had lied to the victims, and to everyone else about rox, and thats the damaging part.

joji has also made a document discussing his experience in blushcrunch and its relation to rox, and i recommend also giving it a read.

the reason this also made me want to make a blogpost about this is that, apparently, joji was sent a cease and desist for the document about his sendoff and experience within blushcrunch, without any claim of breaking the boundaries. this is very clearly trying to silence joji or anyone else trying to speak up about the situation in detail, at least in my opinion it is. but its still awful to see because qwel had cut off rox; so wouldnt it be easy to give an apology to every victim and person she hurt?

i, or we dont know the specifics of the legality of it all. but with qwel lying about rox, and the cease and desist, it makes me no longer want to play or support dandys world anymore. this means buying merchandise from official stores, or directly playing the game itself. its pretty much a boycott, but this is also done to pressure her to make a statement about the situation.

as im typing this, joji is currently requesting legal counsel for the situation, and i can only wish the best of luck for everyone who was harmed because of this situation. qwel was an adult, and shouldve known better to protect a predator, but she did so anyway.

my last words about this is that, i mightve said before, but i have posted myself getting dandys world merchandise from official sources; such from culturefly or the website. i dont really want to give the idea that im still supporting people who have hurt others and are using money to do so, which is why i made this blogpost to begin with. although ive since moved on from dandys world itself, even if its characters are important to me, im willing to make do with how some of the people who made the game and are getting money from it are not the best people to know.

i dont see myself returning to dandys world, and if you still want to buy merchandise; DONT buy anything official. especially from the official site or culturefly themselves, even if i think culturefly doesnt know the extent of what qwel has done, it still profits qwel then. my only suggestion is by buying fanmerch from acggoods or etsy or second hand. these dont give profit to qwel or blushcrunch, and im sure a lot of fanmerch supporters are not supporting her then.

but a lot of people want to let go of dandys world, and i think thats fine, actually. even if dandys world was important to me and others, its still just a piece of media. the funds generated for the game are possibly being used to silence victims, and i think that matters more than where dandys world could be going now- theres going to be ignorant people who are loud about supporting qwel regardless of her actions, but its important that you and i dont and keep spreading the word. real lives matter more than a video game.
