spiderton itself, and why i love him so much

spiderton is one of the minibosses within the first patapon game, only appearing once and never appearing in person. i have theorized he was referenced in the second, but he is primarily thrown to the side and never given any sort of expansion compared to other characters.

as i was into patapon, i found myself attracted to spidertons character. as vague as he is, his connections to beetleton and being one of the talking zigoton characters made him notable- aside from riding a horse, and clearly associated with one of my favorite bugs (aka, an arachnid). although i wasnt sexually attracted to him, i found myself more and more admiring him to the point where i had realized i was attracted to another fictional character /again/. outside of the karmens and my own characters i made for the franchise, you can find me mindlessly rambling about spiderton.

in the end, hes one of my favorite characters to exist next to sniffles from happy tree friends. he honestly makes me feel joy to discuss him, even if its the lightest of amounts. i doubt id meet another person who is as insane about this character as i am, but i guess that makes me proud enough to consider myself his biggest fan!

his design

spiderton, like the other zigotons, has a more simple design. being a normal kibaton but with a spiderhelm, he doesnt have much impact on most players as you kill him when the levels finished. even his steed is rather basic for other kibaton units for the zigotons.

they arent so notable, but i think the helm can be associated with spider genuses such as Nephila; mainly referred to as golden silk orb-weavers. compared to beetleton, whos name dwells from being a stag-beetle in the japanese ver, his name only refers to spiders and no specific species of such.

his character (and how people protray him)

spiderton isnt a three dimensional character by any means, but i still think theyre cute! he introduces himself as a dark warrior, and seems to be rather cocky during his battle. maybe a little too full of himself and his tank, and he perishes with it.. rather sad, isnt it?

another thing i will mention is how people protray spiderton, despite not getting much attention. because of his tank, and remarking how it breaks.. many people, like me, see him as a nerd. theres not much i could say, but i think people go too far with the nerd hc and say, "oh, he cant fight!" in a way as if he didnt go toe to toe with the patapons.. admittingly, i think i have also shared this, but him being a general to decide (or well forced) to fight you firsthand doesnt seem very wimpy. hes even a kibaton, a unit that strikes directly into armies! its not like hes even stronger than gong, but i think they could win a few fights.

even then, we'd probably never get any sort of personality from spiderton, so we can do with what we have with him. it seems he and beetleton share a bit of an ego, but show it in different ways.

personal headcanons

i wont lie when i say that ive convinced myself hes more interesting than gong despite appearing once.. maybe thats why i have so many headcanons that i mightve forgotten.

its a given that, as a trans man, i also see him as transmasc(and even bisexual myself). there has been hcs thrown around that he could also be a trans women, which i honestly love the idea of it.

some people i know headcanon he had actually survived perhaps after pata1, but never bothered to go back to war. maybe it was the trauma of being in a demonic contract and being mauled by patapons- not such a good thing. i even have another headcanon that he had to loose a leg when he was hospitalized, which they dont like to talk about (for obvious reasons). despite never mentioning gong, i wouldnt be surprised if he had some not so nice feelings about the well-regarded general compared to himself.

there is also the obvious fact that, like beetleton, he died. however kuwagattan got to become a demon, so what if spiderton got to be a demon as well? i have seen plenty of kumotan interpretations (that maybe i inspired) that are excellent, so its a shame we never got to see kumotan crawl out of death to insult us once more. maybe even itself and kuwagattan being implied to be gay exes.

there is another theme that can be attached to spiderton and his demonic form however, and its being forgotten. something that i personally fear, and can be connected to spiderton- besides, hes a general thats overshadowed by his superiors, and never got to truly shine. he was just a cog in some machine, and when he was dead, the zigotons seemed to remember gong more where he was hardly mentioned by the zigotons themselves. maybe of him being overshadowed is why he connected to being a demon more..

maybe kumotan, instead of being around dark hoshipon, lurked around the karmens. from feeling tossed out and left behind, they decided to not follow kuwagattan and the other akumatans and found a new home. maybe itd be ironic how it ends up making friendships with karmens, maybe even few of them understanding what he went through. instead of repeating the past mistakes like with kuwagattan, maybe they find out they can start again and fix its mistakes..

hell, maybe after pata2, kuwagattan ends up coming over and begins to heal the same way. besides, did i mention..

of course my favorite pairing with him is beetleton, duh

spiderbeetle had became one of my favorite pairings, right next to smarties (sniffles x nutty) from happy tree friends. sometimes you just cling onto a random ship with your favorite character and become oh so fixated to the poit where it feels like youre annoying people with it. not the best feeling, really, but spiderbeetle honestly makes me happy to think about it in romantic and sexual ways.

the way i see spiderbeetle (or kumokuwa, or spiderkuwa.. remember that they can be demons too) is more of an.. opposites attract, but at the same time having some sort of strange tension between the two. you can call it aggressive or gay tension, but i wouldnt be surprised if they bonded over disliking gong and having to see each other often due to their military ranks. i think they could bounce off one another quite well, beetleton being more impulse and spiderton the (maybe secretly more deranged than beetleton) straightman.

at the same time though, beetleton had dipped the moment the tank went down- which i could see something that can be argued against the pairing. for myself though, i wouldnt be surprised if beetleton figured that spiderton wouldve left- because the moment hes gone, the patapons strike spiderton down. and with the next level with beetleton, and him being the last left, i feel he has guilt at the back of his mind.. because gong seems to let the patapons take him (from failing his queen), so maybe beetleton lets the patapons take him down because of the guilt of leaving spiderton to die? there could also be numberous reasons, maybe also being an honorable warrior like gong, but i like to think his actions in that mission has some involvement with spiderton.

so, they are exes who could get back together as demons. i will say that the interperation of them "being like siblings" is a bit ridiculous to explain why one wouldnt like it.. besides, it isnt overly popular, and any sort unrelated characters can be called siblings. even then, if you dont like the pairing, thats fine with me!
